The Red Fort in Delhi will be closed to the public from July 15th to August 15th, 2025 due to Independence Day preparations.

  1. Visit ASI’s official portal (link below)

  2. Select Delhi -> Red Fort from the monument list

  3. Choose museum option, Visit Date and Visit Time (forenoon, afternoon or evening)

  4. On the next page, specify:

    1. Origin and Country (for foreigners)

    2. Name, Age and Gender

    3. Phone number and Email

    4. Passport details

  5. Pay via UPI/Credit Card/Debit Card

  6. Receive your digital ticket via email

Best Time to Visit

The ideal time to visit the Red Fort is between October and March, when Delhi experiences cooler and more pleasant weather. To enjoy a more peaceful and unhurried visit, we highly recommend arriving early and aiming to conclude your exploration before 12:00 PM.

Can I buy Red Fort tickets offline?

Yes, the Red Fort Ticket Centre is situated near the Delhi Gate, close to the Sunehri Masjid.



However, it’s far more convenient to book your ticket online through the ASI website. It provides a small discount and helps you bypass long queues. You will receive your ticket instantly with a QR code that the security personnel will scan for verification at the entry gate.



Caution: Be wary of unofficial websites and apps claiming to sell tickets for the Red Fort or other monuments. To ensure you purchase legitimate tickets, always use the official ASI online portal.

How long does it take to see the Red Fort?

It can take 90-120 minutes to see all the main attractions inside the Red Fort. But we suggest taking another hour to enjoy the Chatta Bazaar, museums, and eateries.

The Red Fort is closed on Mondays and open on all other days from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The various museums housed within the Red Fort complex adhere to the same opening hours.

Is there a light and sound show inside the Red Fort?

An engaging light and sound show narrating the history of the Red Fort is held in the evenings with 2 shows every day (except Monday)

  • 1st show: 7:15 PM in Hindi,

  • 2nd show: 8:30 PM, English (Tuesday-Thursday), Hindi (Friday, Saturdays and Sundays).

  • Entry starts at 7:00 PM for the first show and 8:00 PM for the second show from Naubat Khana.
