Highlights

Zone 1: Isa Khan's Enclosure

Main Entrance & Ticket Office (Start Point)

Located near Sabz Burj Circle. An underpass connects to the Humayun Museum and the Sunder Nursery


Isa Khan's Main Tomb & Mosque

An octagonal tomb predating Humayun’s and surrounded by a walled enclosure. It's an example of pre-Mughal Afghan architecture that showcases fine lattice screens, turquoise tiles, and a surrounding mosque.


Bu Halima's Tomb & Garden

A mysterious tomb set within a garden, along with an elaborately decorated eastern gateway that suggests it was once the grand entrance to an important enclosure


Zone 2: Arab Serai

Arab Serai Gate

A richly adorned gateway leading to an area believed to have housed Persian artisans brought by Emperor Humayun’s widow, Bega Begum, to build his grand mausoleum.


Afsarwala Tomb & Mosque

A lesser-known Mughal-era tomb and mosque with an unknown history


West Gate

A monumental entrance featuring an iwan (vaulted hall) with six-pointed stars, blending Persian and Indian architectural influences.

Zone 3: Humayun's Mausoleum & Charbagh

Charbagh Garden

A stunning Persian-style quadrilateral garden divided by flowing water channels, symbolizing paradise on earth.


South Gate

A towering gateway connecting Nizamuddin to the mausoleum, intended as the main entrance since tombs were traditionally entered from the south.


Main Mausoleum

The crowning glory of Mughal architecture—a massive double-domed structure that influenced the design of the Taj Mahal


Barber's Tomb

A modest yet elegant tomb within the charbagh with uncertain origins


Zone 4: Environs

Nila Gumbad

A striking blue-domed tomb near the Yamuna, decorated with vibrant tilework

Gurudwara Damdama Sahib

A historic Sikh shrine commemorating the visit of Guru Gobind Singh. The gurudwara is admired for its spiritual atmosphere, community service, and traditional Sikh architecture.


Sunder Nursery

A popular urban oasis featuring heritage walks, flowering gardens, lakes, and beautifully conserved historical structures.
