Tickets, Timings & Tips
Where is the Qutub Minar Complex located?
Designated a UNESCO World heritage site in 1993, the Qutub Minar Complex is located in the southern part of Delhi, in modern day Mehrauli. The entrance to the complex lies in Seth Sarai, off the Mehrauli-Gurugram road.
Mehrauli boasts a rich history serving as the site of fortified cities of the Tomar and Chauhan dynasties until the 12th century. Its elevated terrain offered a valuable vantage point for both defense and visibility.
How do I get to the Complex by metro?
The nearest metro station is Qutab Minar on the Delhi Metro Yellow Line, approximately 1.6 kilometers from the complex’s entry gate. Battery-operated rickshaws and taxis provide convenient transportation from the station to the Qutub Complex.
Is there parking available?
If you're driving, you'll find ample parking near the Ticket Centre. Keep in mind that tourist buses take up a lot of space, so parking might be limited on busy weekends.
As alternatives, you can try the 1AQ Complex or the Ambawatta One Complex on Kalka Das Marg.
What are the opening hours?
The Qutub Minar Complex is open daily from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
What is the best time to visit?
According to a Ministry of Tourism report, Qutub Minar saw a footfall of more than 3.3 million in 2023, making it the second most visited site by foreigners in India. For a more relaxed experience, we recommend arriving early and finishing your exploration of the Qutub Complex before 11:00 AM.
Where can I buy tickets for my visit?
The Qutub Minar Ticket Centre, located across from the complex's entry gate, offers physical tickets through separate counters for Indian and foreign nationals.
However, it’s far more convenient to book your ticket online through the ASI website. This not only provides a small discount but also helps you avoid long queues. You receive your ticket instantly with a QR code that the security guards will scan and verify at the entry gate.
Caution: Be aware of fraudulent websites and apps selling Qutub Minar tickets. Only use the official ASI webapp
What are the ticket prices?
The price tiers of the ticket are-
Children under 15 years | Free |
Indians/SAARC/BIMSTEC | ₹ 35 |
Foreigners | ₹ 550 |
Please be aware that foreign visitors might be asked to present their passports upon entry.
Retain your ticket throughout your walk inside the complex, as it will be scanned and verified again at the exit gate (which is separate from the entry gate).
What amenities are available at the Complex?
As a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Qutub Minar Complex offers clean and well-maintained amenities. You'll find accessible washrooms, drinking water stations, and ramps throughout the grounds. Don't hesitate to ask any of the security personnel for assistance; they're happy to help.
The complex, particularly the Qutub Minar itself, is beautifully illuminated after sundown. However, to fully appreciate the intricate architectural details of the other structures, we recommend exploring them while the sun is still up.
Just outside the main gate, you'll find a small snack shop, a local favorite. For a more extensive dining experience with stunning views, consider visiting one of the many new eateries in Mehrauli that offer rooftop seating overlooking the Qutub Minar.
